Tyla Signs Global Deal With Roc Nation Weeks Before Sophomore Album “A*POP”

South African singer Tyla has signed a global deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation following the conclusion of her run with Epic Records, marking the start of a new professional chapter just weeks before the July 24 release of her second album, A*POP. Tyla marked the signing with a digital takeover in Times Square. The Roc Nation roster she now joins includes Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, J Balvin, John Legend and Christina Aguilera, underlining the company’s deliberate push to build a global pipeline for African talent rather than sign isolated acts.

The 14-track A*POP, released through FAX and Epic Records, is described by Tyla as a “popiano” sound blending pop, R&B and amapiano, and follows her 2024 self-titled debut, which yielded the global hit “Water.” Lead single “Chanel” and the Zara Larsson collaboration “She Did It Again” have already built strong chart momentum ahead of the full release.

The deal signals growing institutional investment from major U.S. labels in African pop stars, and positions Tyla — already a two-time Grammy winner — for a deliberate push toward global superstardom beyond her breakout hit “Water.”
