Shakira and Burna Boy’s World Cup Anthem “Dai Dai” Holds No. 1 on Billboard’s Global Chart for Second Week

“Dai Dai,” the official 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem performed by Colombian superstar Shakira and Nigerian Grammy winner Burna Boy, has secured a second consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, becoming the first official World Cup anthem to top that ranking since it launched in 2020. The track drew 34.4 million streams and sold 4,000 units outside the United States between June 26 and July 2, with both figures rising 9% week over week. Shakira and Burna Boy performed the song before a reported crowd of more than 80,000 at the World Cup’s opening ceremony on June 11 at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca.

Written with contributions from Ed Sheeran and Jon Bellion and released in May, the song has become a genuine crossover phenomenon during the tournament. Since the World Cup began, Spotify streams of “Dai Dai” have surged 130%, and the song also topped Spotify’s worldwide chart on July 1. The achievement marks Burna Boy’s first global No. 1 single and makes him the first African artist to top the chart this decade, cementing his stature as one of the most commercially significant African exports in contemporary pop music.

This is a landmark streaming milestone for African music: an African artist has claimed a bona fide global No. 1 during one of the most watched cultural events on Earth, proving Afrobeats’ commercial reach now extends well beyond niche or regional charts.
